The actor was playing ice hockey with his youngest son, Carter Thicke at the Pickwick Ice skating rink in Burbank at the time when he reportedly suffered a heart attack. He was transported immediately to the hospital but the doctors pronounced him dead.
It was a sudden loss and no one expected it to happen. Alan was recently promoting his cameo in the second season of Fuller House. He wrote on Twitter that the season was looking good, even the episodes he wasn’t in.
The 69 years old late actor is survived by his wife Taniya and his three sons; Robin, Brennan and Carter. Most people know Robin Thicke for his music. Alan was also a proud father as he said in a newspaper interview that he had told Robin that he loved and respected him.
Robin paid tribute to his dad calling him 'greatest man I ever met' and 'always a gentleman.' He also reported that the last thing he said was praise for Carter for playing a nice shot while they were at the skating rink.
Carter was also bereaved by his father’s death and paid a heartfelt tribute to his father on Instagram in which he wrote, 'Today I lost my best friend and my idol, and the world lost one of it's finest, I have never known a more kind, loving, hairy, and generous person in my life and I am forever grateful for the light that this man brought to my life and so many others. You will be missed every second of every day. You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.'
His death was confirmed by his rep Monique Moss who had no further details about the sudden passing of the actor.
