AMD announced today three new affordable multi-core desktop CPUs with the AMD Phenom X3 8750, 8650 and 8450 Triple-Core CPUs .
The top of the line new AMD X3 8750 got already tested by several hardware sites. Hothardware says the Phenom X3 8750 performed in-line with our expectations, outpacing the dual-core chips more often than not.
Tweaktown says about the AMD X3 8750: "Phenom, while being a good processor is in no way a replacement for the Core 2."
Hexus concludes that AMD's tri-core Phenom X3 9850 is no match for Intel's Core 2 Quad Q6600, and barely a threat to Intel's Core 2 Duo E8200.
The Techreport says the Phenom X3 processors' problems aren't in the concept, but the execution. The three cores simply aren't quick enough, individually, to make this triple-core product look appealing.
Overall the reviews of the AMD Phenom X3 are not very positive so far.
