PriceGrabber.com conducted a study recently of furniture and appliance shopping trends. The results of the study were published in the latest Consumer Behavior Report. The report was based on a survey of 1,949 online customers and compared with a study of 1,417 online customers from 2006.

The study shows that consumers are now spending more time researching purchases on comparison shopping engines. 81% of respondents said they did online research prior to purchasing furniture or an appliance.

31% of respondents say they purchased the product they researched. 43% say they purchase the items based on price. In 2006 70% of online shoppers said they wouldn’t make a large purchase online. The new study shows that only 56% say they wouldn’t purchase online.
