GTA IV PS3 Fix through new PS3 Firmware

For some Sony PS3 owners GTA IV freezes on them. Apparently only early PS3 consoles are prone to the issue.

Sony is now apparently fixing the issue with a new PS3 firmware update.As you might remember Sony changed the PS3 hardware quite a bit soon after launch. It is still strange that the changes have had an impact on GTA IV. Usually new PS3 firmware updates improved backward compatibility for PS2 games, not to fix issues that are raised by new titles.
