Yesterday several stories about an Atom based iPhone started to circulate. The source of it was supposedly German Intel General Manager Hannes Schwaderer. ZDNet Germany wrote that he said future iPhones would have the Intel Atom chip at an Intel event in the BMW World in Munich. Now Intel made ZDNet (German) in Germany publish a report that he never said that.
Hannes Schwaderer was only making general statements of future MIDs that are powered by Atom.
Other German tech news sites like Golem actually also had journalists at the event where Intel's General manager spoke and they did not hear a specific Atom iPhone statement.
The rumor that Apple will use Atom chips in future portable products or iPhones is not new - just do not blame Intel for it.
