The Sony PS2 is not dead yet. Sony is even releasing it in new color. The new Cinnabar Red (SCPH-90000 CR) PS2 will go on sale in Japan on July 3rd for 16,000 Yen (~$152).
Sony launched the PlayStation 2 (SCPH-90000) series) in November of 2007. The SCPH-90000 is adopting a built-in AC adapter making this PS2 console version very compact.
Entering in its 9th year since launch, the Sony PS2 is exceeding 130 million units in installed base worldwide.
