A couple days we reported about rumors that Mobile Me was discovered as service name in the new iPhone firmware and that Apple possibly owns Me.com. Today the .ME registry announces that the land rush for the new domain name extension is well underway.
If indeed Apple is launching Me branded online services to replace the .Mac service for the iPhone and all other Mac computers than .Me names could be become valuable assets.
More than 70 registrars from all over the world are already offering .ME registration. Open Registration is slated for July 17, initiating on a first-come, first-served basis. You can apply for a .Me domain now until June 26th.
the .ME extension belongs to Montenegro. As several other countries with cool extension (Togo: .to) they let companies sell domains for them.
