Apple has apparently started sending the next version of the Safari browser to developers.
Safari 4 would be part of the next update of OS X Snow Leopard. Maybe it will even come earlier as Snow Leopard is still a year out.
Apple promises to have the fastest Javascript implementation ever in Safari 4.
The speed improvement is supposedly based on the adoption of SquirrelFish.
The new MobileMe service offers desktop style web applications that heavily depend on Javascript. To have a browser that executes these well and fast is extremely important for the success of MobileMe.
