Apple has sold 5 billion songs from the iTunes Store

Apple announced today that the company has sold 5 billion songs via the iTunes Store to date.

Apple says that iTunes is the number one music retailer in the US (based on NPD Group’s MusicWatch survey) and features the largest music catalog with over eight million songs.

Also, iTunes customers are now renting and purchasing over 50,000 movies every day, making iTunes the world’s most popular online movie store.
These are very impressive numbers and shows how successful Apple has become in selling content. I am also hooked on iTunes and love being able to purchase just one song I heard on the radio.
Via this Apple press-release.
