There are two big Palm Pre rumors to report on this evening. First, target="blank" title="Palm Pre launching no earlier than May 16 according to leaked doc?">Engadget got its hands on a supposed internal Sprint planning document indicating a May 16th “Req. Delivery Date” for the “Palm Pre Handset Launch.” A box labeled “Scheduled” was left blank, suggesting that May 16th, a Saturday, could be a Sprint preparation day with an official product release soon thereafter.
Meanwhile, PhoneNews reported last week on a May 17th launch, with a June 29th postponement date if shipments do not meet demand.
Also, a few lucky souls are already using the Palm Pre in the wild, if the pictures on bananachunks.com are to be believed. The pictures clearly show two young men at the “Bring Your Own Big Wheel race” snapping pics with the mobile.
While the photos appear authentic, Sprint has been quite stingy with the Palm Pre to bloggers and reviewers, even causing CNET’s Bonnie Cha to lash out. Why would they give it out to a couple of seemingly well-connected teenagers?

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
