Spirit DSP announced today that its award-winning innovative TeamSpirit 3.0 voice engine mobile has enabled voice over Internet protocol applications on the new Apple iPhone 3G. The new voice over Internet protocol application technology promises to reduce the costs associated with using the iPhone 3G by allowing calls be placed over the Internet.

Spirit DSP says that its TeamSpirit voice engine mobile is designed to give application developers the tools needed to create wideband voice over Internet protocol applications for users of the iPhone 3G. That means that this technology is not voice over Internet protocol application itself, but enables developers to build their own voice over Internet protocol applications that can be offered via the Apple App Store.

"We are happy that our innovative, complete and easy-to-integrate Voice Engine Mobile enables wideband VoIP on Apple's iPhone 3G," said Slava Borilin, VP Products at SPIRIT. "Wideband voice in VoIP applications is the ultimate benefit for end-users simply because voice quality is noticeably better as wideband doubles the bandwidth. While other software vendors offer narrowband VoIP solutions only, SPIRIT supplies iPhone 3G applications developers with the wideband Voice Engine already deployed on a number of mobile platforms and delivering the highest voice quality over IP and 3G networks."
