The GC 2008 (Games Convention) is taking place in Leipzig next week starting on the 21st of August. The GC has become Europes largest fair for games and entertainment with 185,000 visitors in 2007.
Given the size it is disappointing for many video game fans that Nintendo opted out of the GC 2008. Nintendo announced the move in May, arguing that they are planning their own road show in the 2nd half of 2008 in Germany.
Nintendo could still announce something new just to mess with any announcements that Microsoft and Sony could make at the GC 2008.
The GC in Leipzig has more issues to deal with than the Nintendo no-show. A new games trade-show is planned for 2009 to take place in Cologne called GAMESCom. The official reason to move to Cologne is the better infrastructure to support even further growth of the German game convention. More details about the GC 2008 can be found on this site.
If you had hopes of Sony cutting their PS3 prices at the GC 2008, you can forget about that too. Sony let it be known today that they do not plan to announce any price-cuts for the PS3 at the GC 2008.
