Dell Inspiron Mini 9 Netbook is on Sale

The Dell Inspiron 910 aka Dell Inspiron Mini 9 product pages are live on the Dell site. The pages are not linked on the Dell site yet and Dell did not officially announce the Mini 9 netbook yet, but the links are out and you can order the Inspiron 9 with Windows XP or with Ubuntu Linux.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with 8GB SSD and Windows XP starts at $449.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with 4GB SSD and Ubuntu Linux starts at $349.
It is great news that the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 netbook starts at $349. But there are some tricks in Dell's bag to pull more money out of your pocket. If you want for instance a white Dell Mini 9 instead of the black you pay $25 extra.
Also the basic Ubuntu Mini 9 with 512GB RAM, 4GB SSD, no camera, and no Bluetooth has inferior specifications compared to the Mini 9 with Windows XP.
As the Intel Atom powered Dell Mini 9 features an 8.9 inch display with 1024x800px resolution we can directly compare it with the Asus Eee 901 series.
What we see is that the Asus Eee 901 is more expensive but features larger SSD drives and a 6 cell battery instead of a 4 cell. If you do not need the extra storage and battery life the Dell netbook is a hot buy, especially if you can go for the $349 priced Ubuntu Mini 9.

You can shop for the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 with Ubuntu here and for the Dell Mini 9 with Windows XP here. Via Engadget.

The price of the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 can quickly explode when adding options, so be sure you check the current Dell promotions on notebooks to see if you can get a Windows Vista notebook with more power for less here.
