VMware launched version 2.0 of its popular Windows on a Mac application, VMware Fusion. If you own the version 1.x of VMware Fusion, the upgrade for version 2 is free. The new version promises a more integrated Windows experience on a Mac computer and adds over 100 new features.

The latest version of VMware Fusion looks to make Windows safer on the Mac platform and to make Windows native applications run like Mac native apps. The application makes automatic virtual machine snapshots and allows the simultaneous sharing of folders between Mac and Windows OS'. The software also features an embedded 12-month subscription to McAfee VirusScan Plus.

"VMware Fusion 2 makes it easy and fun for every Mac user to run the Windows applications they need while enjoying the Mac experience they want, " said Pat Lee, group manager for consumer products, VMware. "Our goal is to break down the walls between Windows and the Mac by creating a user-friendly, Mac-native experience that lets our customers run any Windows application, seamlessly and safely, on the Mac. We want our customers to see that Windows really is better on the Mac."
