We first reported about the Interead Cool-er eBook reader back in June. Yesterday Amazon cut the price of the Amazon Kindle to $259. This new price puts the pressure on other eBook reader makers that have been selling at that price-point.
The Interead Cool-er sells for $249, but has no wireless service. The Cool-er looks cool and is lighter than the Kindle, but the big thing about the Kindle is the easy to use eco-system.
You can buy books anywhere and Amazon offers eBooks at great prices, after all Amazon was an online book store in the beginning.
The WSJ Blogs Digits reports now that Interead is trying to gain some market share with a placement on the home-shopping network QVC as a Today’s Special Value (TSV) in early December.
It is not known yet at what price the Cool-er will be offered on QVC, but I would think it needs to be priced at least below $200 to have some impact.
In case you missed it yesterday. The Amazon Kindle is now on sale internationally.
