slotMusic is the latest scheme to recapture some of the lost revenue record labels are seeing as things go digital, it is nothing more than MP3 tracks pre-loaded onto a microSD card. SanDisk announced that it is now offering players built specifically for the microSD format.

The players are small at slightly more than two ounces in weight and measuring 2.75" W x 1.4375" H x 1.4375" D. The Sansa slotMusic player will sell for only $19.99 and has none of the frills you are used to on a MP3 player like a display or internal memory. The device is intended only for slotMusic cards.

Power comes from standard batteries no recharging is needed. The shell of the player is removable to allow for customization and artist-branded players are available that are bundled with a slotMusic card for $34.99.
