T-Mobile G1 Review Round-up

The launch of the first Android mobile phone draws nearer and today lots of T-Mobile G1 reviews have hit the web. T-Mobile will officially launch the G1 on October 22nd. Reports indicated that early adopters who have already pre-ordered early on might get the T-Mobile G1 in their mail already Friday.
Walter Mossberg's verdict of the T-Mobile G1 is kind of flat: "Overall, the G1 is a very good first effort, and a godsend for people who prefer physical keyboards or T-Mobile but want to be part of the new world of powerful pocket computers.". He still prefers the iPhone due to its superior user experience. Read his full review.
I share this view of the G1. It is a "project phone" and only fun for those who like to spend a lot of time with their gadgets or even want to develop for it. The other main issue is that all contact management is done via the Google service and no other system is supported - e.g. Outlook. If the open source community does not jump on the G1, then it will not succeed.
