Qik announces the release of an alpha version of their live mobile video solution on BlackBerry phones. Qik is now available on Blackberry Pearl, BlackBerry Bold, and other BlackBerry phones.
With Qik's free video service, users can stream video live to the Internet in just two clicks from their mobile phone. Those watching the videos on the Web can take part in live interactive chat with the person broadcasting.Qik is initially launching in alpha on the following handsets running Blackberry Operating System 4.5 and above: Blackberry Pearl 8120, Blackberry Pearl 8130, and Blackberry Bold. Support for Blackberry Curve and Blackberry Pearl Flip 8220 will be available soon.
Owners of supported BlackBerries can get Qik by registering at the Qik site.
Live Mobile video streaming is in my opinion one of the hottest things to do with your phone if you have a flat data rate plan. It is surprisingly not catching on as quickly as I would have imagined. For instance currently there are only 5 live Qik video feeds, 103 Qik vidoes added in the past hour and 480 Qikkers online in 61 countries right now.
