Today Intel launches the Core i7 CPUs and platform. This is a major upgrade and will soon let us forget about Core 2 CPUs. Tom's Hardware put the Core i7 into perspective regarding AMD with this statement in their review of the new Intel CPU: "Put bluntly, you’d need two and a half Phenom X4 processors to compete with Intel’s current Core i7 flagship model."
What's said about the Intel Core i7 is not all positive though. Apparently the Core i7 standard CPUs have overclocking locks, making it a no go for overclocking fans.
