iPhone 3G Tethering coming says AT&T

One of the annoying disadvantages of the iPhone 3G today is that you cannot use it to connect a notebook to the internet.
Now AT&T Mobility CEO Ralph De La Vega told TechCrunch's Michael Arrington at the Web 2.0 Summit that iPhone tethering is coming soon.
AT&T did not reveal if there will be an extra charge for this feature. In my value understanding using a mobile phone as a modem should be free and covered by the data plan I already have. This is how it works here in Germany with my old Nokia N80 on O2.
