Apple took 2nd place in the Smartphone market in the 3rd quarter with 17.3%. RIM is right behind Apple with 15.2% market share. The first place is still owned by Nokia with a 38.9% market share.
The Finnish handset maker lost big time last quarter compared to a year ago. Based on what Nokia is offering in the smartphone segment they will even loose more in Q4.
Now the question is if Apple can keep the lead on RIM. RIM is pushing out two new BlackBerry phones this quarter with the Bold and the Storm.
Both new BlackBerry phones are surrounded by a lot of hype and I predict RIM will take the 2nd spot from Apple again in Q4 unless there is an iPhone 3G sale at $99.
