It's more common today for new camcorders to lack tapes than to use them. Most people want a camcorder that records video digitally because it is easier to store the video, easier to share it and easier to upload digital video to the Internet.

Creative has announced that it is now shipping its $199 Vado HD pocket camcorder. The device records video in 720p resolution and features HDMI connectivity built-in. The optics are precision glass lens and the camera has 8GB of built-in memory, enough for two hours of HD video.

Creative says that the street price of the Vado HD is $229.99, but as of today, you can order the camcorder direct from Creative for $199. The built-in LCD is 2-inches wide and the battery is removable and rechargeable. A USB transfer cable for the video is built-in and the camera comes with software for posting video to YouTube and other video sharing services.
