Delays ensued, as is par for the Phantom course and now it is almost 2009 and the Phantom Lapboard has yet to hit the market. Phantom Entertainment has announced that its online game store is now launched and that it has secured funding for production of its lapboard.
Considering an early review sample of the Lapboard received scathing reviews, I am surprised that Phantom was able to get funding to produce the device. Phantom says that units will be coming in from its manufacturing partner starting in January. The upside is that after shipping a small amount of Lapboards (that didn’t get good reviews) last quarter Phantom opted to upgrade the mouse internals. If that will help the device perform better remains to be seen.
