Apricorn has announced a new line of DVR Xpander products that offers a unit with a 1.5TB recording capacity. The company claims that its DVR Xpander is the highest capacity DVR external hard drive on the market. When a DVR is fitted with the 1.5TB Xpander 843 hours of SD recording is available.

For those recording HD shows 187.5 hours can be stored. That is a huge improvement over the 20 hours or so many DVRs from satellite and cable providers offer. If 1.5TB is more space than you need smaller capacity, devices are available.

Other capacities include 500GB, 750GB, and 1TB versions. Apricorn DVR Xpanders support eSATA and USB connectivity, and support a wide range of DVR models. The company claims that the Xpander can be installed in minutes and the DVR will perform the format automatically. Prices range from $119 for the 500GB version to $239 for the 1.5TB.
