Can you really blame the App Store for Rewarding crap applications. The thing here is that most iPhone users appear to like to download a bunch of crap. This guy created an app called Sound Grenade it 20 minutes. The first day he saw 50 reviews that were positive and the app went on to hit the top 10 free apps in most countries.
After seeing how popular it was, the developer switched it to ad supported and now brings in about $200 per hour in revenue from the ad clicks. If I were an app developer who sees 20 minutes of work bring in $200 per hour, I would be writing crap all day.
