Iomega has announced two new desktop storage appliances in its new StorCenter Pro ix4 NAS line. The company promises that advanced storage technologies allow the device to be running in only four clicks. Two models are available with one offering 2TB of storage and the other offering 4TB.

StorCenter Pro ix4-100 units use four drives and are powered by the EMC LifeLine software, which is a Linux operating system with applications to allow for data backup and serving. Multiple RAID configurations are supported and RSA enterprise security protection is offered.

RAID modes include RAID 5 and RAID 10 as well as JBOD. Drives inside the system are hot swappable and the devices connect to a network with Gigabit Ethernet. Four USB ports are available for adding more storage capacity or printers to the network. The 2TB device retails for $799.99, the 4TB sells for $1299.95, and both will be available this month.
