Google Turns a Decade Old

Last week marked the tenth birthday for the massive search engine Google. The firm was incorporated ten years ago to allow the founders to cash a check for $100,000 made out to the company. From that small start, we now have the billion-dollar giant and king of search, internet advertising, and many other facets of Internet life.

Anyone that used a search engine in the pre-Google days knows that it could be very difficult to find information on what you were specifically looking for. Some Internet users think that online ads are the scourge of the net. However you feel about online ads, Google made the text ad what it is today and generates the income needed to keep many of your favorite sites afloat.

What will the next decade hold for Google? Who knows, what we do know is that the giants of the Internet have a way of fading slowly from their past glories if they fail to meet the changing needs of the online user. Just look at Yahoo and AOL if you need proof.
