NVIDIA announced at the MWC 2009 that they worked closely with Google and the Open Handset Alliance to unleash Android on the Tegra series of ‘computer-on-a-chip’ processors.
The new NVIDIA Tegra APX 2600 processor running Android will be on display in the NVIDIA booth at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
NVIDIA will be enabling its OEM customers with a highly optimized and accelerated Android port starting in the second quarter of 2009.Via the NVIDIA site. See also the NVIDIA announcement of the $99 Tegra MIDs.
The Mobile World Congress 2009 (MWC 2009) is starting on February 16th and lasts until the 19th. The MWC 2009 (former 3GSM) takes place again in Barcelona.
