The company offers a library of over 1,400 HD movies, which it claims to be the largest HD library in the world. This week the company unveiled 50 new HD movies from top independent movie studios for rental and to own. The movies are available in both HD and Vudu's HDX format at the same price.
HDX claims to be the highest quality on-demand format around. Among the independent movie studios offering films for sale on Vudu are FirstLook Studios, Kino, and magnolia Pictures. Titles purchased on Vudu can be stored on the user's Vudu box or in a free online storage area called the Vudu Vault. Movies to own on Vudu cost between $13.99 and $23.99 in HD format.
