Paramount Pictures reports that the new trailer for Star Trek broke viewing records on the Apple website in the first 24 hours it was offered and has gone on to become the most popular HD download ever on the site with 5 million downloads in the first 5 days it was available. The trailer debuted exclusively on Apple.com on March 6th giving fans of the movie a sneak peak.

J.J. Abrams is directing the anticipated film that will be one of the most popular movies of this summer. The movie is set with a totally new crew and starts from the Star Trek stories very beginning. The movie opens on May 8, 2009.

This should be a cool movie, it is nice to see Star Trek isn't dying out now that there are no new TV shows and the other films in the series are dying out. I like when they remake an old favorite franchise and start over, the new James bond flicks did the same thing very well.
