Sony has announced that its eBook store now offers owners of the PRS-505 or PRS-700 eBook readers free access to over 500,000 public domain books and novels from Google. A button on the front page of the eBook store lets users access the free books from Google.
To access the free content users will need an account at the Sony store and the eBook Library software will need to be downloaded. Among the titles available for free are "The Awakening," "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court," and "Black Beauty."
Titles from Jane Austen and foreign language titles are offered for free as well. The database is searchable by title, subject, and author. "We have focused our efforts on offering an open platform and making it easy to find as much content as possible - from our store or others - whether that content is purchased, borrowed or free," said Steve Haber, president of the Digital Reading Business Division at Sony Electronics. "Working with Google, we can offer book lovers another avenue for free books while still providing a seamless experience from our store."

The “geek mind” is concerned with more than just the latest iPhone rumors, or which company will win the gaming console wars. I4U is concerned with more than just the latest photo shoot or other celebrity gossip.
The “geek mind” is concerned with life, in all its different forms and facets. The geek mind wants to know about societal and financial issues, both abroad and at home. If a Fortune 500 decides to raise their minimum wage, or any high priority news, the geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants to know the top teams in the National Football League, or who’s likely to win the NBA Finals this coming year. The geek mind wants to know who the hottest new models are, or whether the newest blockbuster movie is worth seeing. The geek mind wants to know. The geek mind wants—needs—knowledge.
