The new TomTom service is called Map Update Service and for $39.80, customers can get quarterly map updates for their navigation device. All of the updates are available through TomTom Home. The company also allows users to get one free map update for their device is it comes out within 30 days of their purchase.
All new map updates are made only when verified by Tele Atlas and alerts are sent to users as soon as the updates are offered. TomTom says that the roads in America change by 15% each year. TomTom devices also allow users to modify the maps to be more accurate.
