Nintendo has announced that it will be hosting a midnight launch party for the coming DSi portable gaming console at the GameStop location at Universal CityWalk in LA. At the event, attendees will be the first to get access to the new portable gaming machine.

The event will include personalized giveaways with video game art group I Am 8-bit. The event will also have music by VJ Fader with video on a 360-degree projection globe. Interactive gaming stations will be set up at the venue and running stunts will be performed by Parkour street.

The new Nintendo DSi portable console will launch on April 5th for $169.99. Nintendo is expecting big sales for the new portable console despite the poor economy. This may also be a good time for fans interested in the original Nintendo DS to get a very good deal on the older console.
