I don’t believe that I ever used Microsoft's Encarta webpage. If you were a fan of the offering from Microsoft, its days are numbered. According to the Guardian Microsoft will be closing Encarta down this year.

Encarta has been a victim of better sources of information like Wikipedia. The man issue for the service was that the full catalog was by subscription only and the same information was readily available other places for free.

Microsoft said in a statement, "Encarta has been a popular product around the world for many years. However, the category of traditional encyclopedias and reference material has changed. People today seek and consume information in considerably different ways than in years past."
