Survey Says Consumers Prefer Ad-supported Content

According to a survey by a professional services firm called KPMG 60% of UK web users would prefer to have content supported by ads than to have to pay for the content. Many web users don’t mind ads, assuming the ads aren’t intrusive.

Even with the tough economy 16% said they would pay for content that was free of ads. A happy medium would satisfy both I think if the ads were not bothersome and the content was good enough.

Almost a fourth of those surveyed said that they would watch video ads to get free IM access. I thought IM access was already free. I don’t think that many people would be willing to pay for ad free content; it's too easy to get free content online to justify paying.
