We take a closer look at another popular mobile phone that is in the top 10 at LetsTalk. The Samsung Rant with its slide-out QWERTY keyboard ranks at place 7. Like many other phones on LetsTalk the Samsung Rant is free with a new service plan from Sprint.
The feature highlights of the Samsung Rant include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2.0 megapixel camera and camcorder, a GPS device, an MP3 player, a 1,200-number phone book, EV-DO, and stereo Bluetooth.
Samsung Rant has integrated 2.0-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom and video camcorder with night shot. Sprint TV with live and on-demand programming including Sprint Exclusive Entertainment (SEE), a made-for-mobile sports and entertainment video programming network are the added advantage that Samsung Rant offers.
Multiple messaging options including SMS, voice SMS and instant messaging and wireless backup restores contact information if the phone is lost, stolen or damaged. The Samsung Rant is an excellent messaging phone for Sprint messaging fans.
The Rant keyboard is very convenient to use on the Rant. It has four rows of keys instead of the traditional three rows and it is in the QWERTY format. With One Click, the Rant's user interface can be personalized and users can select commonly used features such as text messaging, web access, email, Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Sprint Music Store for easier access right from the home screen. Additional features include a speaker-independent voice recognition.
The Samsung Rant measures 4.45 x 2.05 x 0.7 inches (HXWXD) and has a 2.1+ACI- color screen that gives off 262k colors, which is a terrific feature. It weighs around 4.81oz. The Samsung Rant is powered by an ENERGY STAR qualified adaptor and the Lithium ion battery provides up to 5.6 hours of talk time. It features a 64MB user memory and holds up to 1,200 numbers.
The other miscellaneous features of Samsung Rant include mobile printing via Pictbridge , voice memo and voice mail features for corporate users, predictive Text Input T9 (handwritten recognition feature), and personal information management features such as Calendar, clock, alarm, memo book, and worldtime.
Samsung Rant isn't a complex, corporate smartphone, it's still very much a consumer-level device, but if you'd like to be able to check your work e-mail on your little personal phone.
