A supposed Sprint employee has anonymously posted some new details on the Palm Pre on the Inside Sprint Now blog. The lengthy post contains a host of dry details about the new device, but a few of new features listed are worth a mention.
The Palm Pre will include “data wipe” functionality, a unique security feature that allows users to remotely delete personal data from the Pre in the event it is lost or stolen. The device also sets up a user “Palm Profile” for software updates and data restoration.
Also, the Palm Pre will support up to eight email addresses, will require a data plan, and will not allow tethering. Finally, the Pre will not support Sprint PictureMail, Sprint Music, or the Sprint Digital Lounge.
The post seems authentic enough, and the author even includes a screen grab outlining instructions speeding up the Palm Pre should it ever get sluggish.
The employee does not confirm a release date, only mentions the device is coming “soon.”
Check out the Inside Sprint Now blog for a complete rundown of features.
