The French company developing the game, Widescreen Games, was building the title under an agreement with Atari. Game development was halted due to poor finances for the developer and the company is attempting to resolve the financial problems.
Widescreen Games says that while the development of The Witcher game is frozen, the development of other game titles it is working on will continue. There is no word on when or if the development of the game will continue.
