The Major League Gaming now has an Official Shaver. BIC, makers of the BIC Comfort 3 Advance men's razor, have become official sponsors of Major League Gaming, which is the world's premier professional gaming league. If you can't see anything ironic about a razor company sponsoring the one sport known for being primarily played by unshaven, neckbearded young men, than you might just be blind.

"Once we understood the level of competition, engagement, and community at Major League Gaming, we knew we had to be involved," said Jamie Kistner, a brand manager at BIC.

BIC also sponsors college basketball and football, and the addition of professional gaming to their supported sports is part of a push to expose their products to this generation's young adults. The fact that they included professional gaming in their campaign means some very important things for the sport.

Advertisers put their money where they think it will reach their demographic. The fact that BIC is reaching out to gamers means it considers them to have as mainstream a pastime as any football or basketball fan. Of course, gaming in general has been mainstream for a long time, but it's taken a bit longer to see gaming treated as a legitimate sport. This endorsement is a big sign of the strides professional gaming has made in getting itself taken seriously.
