The successor to the Archos 105 Personal Media Player hits the streets today. The Archos 2 has been available for pre-order for some time, but it has just now become available for purchase via the Archos website. The product is expected to ship imminently.
The Archos 2 comes in two sizes; 8 GB, and 16 GB. There is also a microSD slot for additional space. It has a 1.8" screen and supports MP3 and WMA files. The Archos 2 is also capable of voice recording, and will be offered for $60 (8 GB) or $100 (16 GB). Archos has a reputation for releasing durable, high quality products at a relatively low cost.
I don't expect the Archos 2 to be extremely popular, but it should sell well among Archos fans and people looking for a good MP3 player that's less expensive than most of the Zunes and iPods out on the market.
