Back in 2007, right around the time that the netbook revolution started, Palm announced a new product called the Foleo that ultimately bombed and never reached market. Palm invested serious money in the development of the Foleo, but apparently forgot to do any research to see if users who owned a Palm mobile phone would actually carry the Foleo around.

Now that the netbook market is booming reports are coming in that palm is looking at rebirthing the Foleo as a netbook running the Palm webOS. Analysts cited by Laptop Magazine claim that the Foleo will be coming back to the market in netbook guise at $399.

According to the sources, the little machine will run Qualcomm's GOBI chip that allows users to subscribe to mobile broadband with any provider, a feature that HP uses on business notebooks. Will consumers buy into another alternate OS netbook? I say no and we will probably see the Foleo running Windows soon after its launch, if it actually ever launches.
