The best information is grainy and poorly focused. A couple of poorly-shot but nonetheless really cool pictures popped up on Boy Genius today. These are said to be the first images of the Motorola Rival a445 and the Samsung Alias 2.
I really like the look of the new Motorola. It's slick and it looks like it will make a very easy-to-use texting phone. The new alias looks a lot like its predecessor, but with a very different keyboard. Each key on the Alias 2 is actually a little e-ink display. The phone's keyboard changes between typing and calling modes by altering the display.
The Alias 2 is set to be released on May 11th, but the Motorola Rival doesn't even have a set launch date yet. The Alias 2 is set to cost $79 dollars, and the Motorola has no set price information as of yet.
I really do like the Alias line as budget texting phones. The Alias 2 looks pretty much the same, but the electronic keyboard that switches between calling and typing modes is a seriously cool addition. It'll make the phone that much easier to use. You have to keep your eye on the little innovations like this, because they tend to start showing up everywhere after a few months.
