Gmail servers were down again today. Thankfully, the outage didn’t last as long as the last one that had many users without service for hours. Access to the web-based Gmail application was hit and miss while POP3 and IMAP access was unavailable.

In the US, POP3 access is still sketchy with things up one minute and down the next. A spokesperson told the Register that Google was aware of the problems and was working to fix them.
The last massive outage was blamed on a sever taken down for maintenance and other servers were unable to pick up the slack. Google is investigating what caused the outage at this time.
