This will be the first time that Viewsonic has been in the smartphone market and the company says that the smartphone will converge well with its other product offerings. Viewsonic says that the smartphone market demands larger and higher performance screens aimed at gaming, web surfing, TV and video on smartphones.
“With 20 years of display experience this is a natural extension of our product expertise,” said James Chu, chairman and chief executive officer of ViewSonic. “This is an important strategic step for ViewSonic, as it allows us to apply our display technology to an even larger and rapidly growing worldwide market.”
