The iPhone managed to capture the heart of consumers across the board. The iPhone is not just the smartphone of choice of Apple fans. This starts in my opinion to become an issue as hard-core Apple fans cannot differentiate themselves, besides having the latest and coolest Apps installed.
The time is ripe for a "cooler" iPhone. Apple already does offer choices within other product categories. There are MacBooks and there are MacBook Pro notebooks for instance. The same segmentation is due for the iPhone. Apple might already bring more than one iPhone model this month. That Apple is already thinking about more than one iPhone model got confirmed in this report.
The most recent iPhone rumors talk about a new device with some improved specifications like Camera resolution, RAM and CPU speed. Such a new iPhone would not really be exciting, but good enough for the mainstream customers to run the new iPhone 3.0 OS nicely.
Apple aficionados would go nuts though over a new iPhone with a higher resolution screen and updated design that reflects premium. Earlier iPhone rumors have pointed towards several new iPhone product IDs that are floating around. So there is possibly evidence that several iPhone models are coming. The open questions remaining are when the new iPhones are going to be unveiled and is an iPhone Pro amongst them.
