Looks like Palm really is not able to make enough Palm Pre for the anticipated high demand on Launch Day June 6th.
The rumors about short supply appeared before, but now BoyGeniusReport gained access to an internal Best Buy document describing a two phase launch with volume stock scheduled for late July / early August.
The inventory of Palm Pre devices of Best Buy stores will be very low initially, 4 per store are talked about.
Since Best Buy handles the $100 mail-in rebate it is the most convenient store to buy the Palm Pre besides Radio Shack (also very low Pre supply and only selected stores). I have not heard yet if Walmart is also taking care of the mail-in rebate and if they will actually have the Palm Pre in stock at launch.
Also not all Sprint Stores will have the Palm Pre in stock on launch day according to jkontherun. Better check with your local store now and ask if they are going to get one.
I think this supply issue if true is really very bad for Palm and puts them at risk to lose sales to the new iPhone that most likely will ship in July.
