Yesterday during the Sony E3 conference the gaming giant announced the development of a new title in the massively successful Final Fantasy series. Final Fantasy XIV will be the next online Final Fantasy game, taking the series in a futuristic, sci-fi direction.
Sony gave us a massive gameplay video during their presentation, which showed off some truly awesome special effects. There were some fantastic aircraft battles and, of course, the obligatory giant tentacled monster. I didn't catch any Chocobos (or Biggs and Wedge for that matter) but I think we can rest assured that all of the classic Final Fantasy elements will be in attendance.
It's odd that Sony would let this info out so far ahead of the game's release. Final Fantasy XIII isn't even out yet, and they're already giving us a fairly advanced-looking sneak peak. We won't get to see this until Spring, 2010 but they have a lot of polished footage to show us nonetheless. When Final Fantasy XIII does hit stores, it will be out exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Congratulations, Sony fans, you've got a great looking title on the way.

This really isn't so much as news as the announcement of non-news on the part of Rockstar, who are cautioning fans not to expect too much new info about the next game—at least for the next couple of months as they presumably plug away at the upcoming fak ...
