Ricoh's America just announced an upgrade to their Print Copy Scan Director series that will provide additional cost-saving and environmentally conscious options to business owners. Director 6 has been updated to allow the owner to actually calculate the total cost per page of any jobs he gives the printer to do. It will also allow them to switch between color and black-and-white copies within a document series.

Developer 6 also has the ability to report printing costs across different departments within an organization. You'll be able to report charge-backs and delve deep into your printing records to find out where the unnecessary costs are and how you can reduce them. You can even set your system to not allow printing jobs over a certain cost.

Ricoh's made some security improvements as well. A big worry with any printing job is the chance that your company's files could be peeked at while they're being sent to the printer. Developer 6 has some enhanced security measures that should make it safer to print from email or across a wireless connection.

You can get more information about Developer 6 from the Ricoh corporation's website. If you are a small (or large) business owner who intends to give this update a try, please let I4U News know what you think of it.
