Logitech has announced new software for video calling that works with any Logitech webcam. The software is called Logitech Vid and is designed for fast and free video calls on PC or Mac computers. Logitech promises that the setup of the software for video calling is streamlined and very simple.

Vid promises setup in fewer steps that your typical IM application. The software provides video calling in full color and is optimized for good frame rates and the resolution of your webcam. The software is powered by the Logitech SightSpeed Network.

The software is automatically set up when a Logitech webcam is plugged into the computer and a few clicks are all that is needed to start. Vid uses the email address of your friends and family to connect and all the friend needs to do to initiate a call is accept an email invite from you.
