Viewsonic has announced that it is now shipping the VPC100 all-in-one computer in America. The computer retails for $599, uses an Intel Atom 1.64 GHz processor, and runs Windows XP Home. The machine has an 18.5-inch display.

The machine is very thin at 35mm and Viewsonic says the system uses 50% less plastic than traditional desktops with an LCD and a tower. Other features of the machine include four USB ports, DVD burner, memory card reader, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and Ethernet port.

The screen has a 1.3MP webcam, dual 2.5 watt speakers, and ships with a full-size keyboard and a mouse. Viewsonic backs the system with a one-year warranty. Viewsonic figures the machine is great for use in shared settings and locations where space is limited.
